From a Minnesota kitchen table to closets around the world
2005
Where it began
Softies began in Minnesota when founder Dennis Murphy set out to create something different. After 40 years in women's apparel, he partnered with his longtime designer, Lily, to create a fabric that redefined comfort: exceptionally soft, breathable and endlessly cozy.
2006
When it became personal
That year, Dennis' wife Peggy was diagnosed with leukemia. Through the long, exhausting nights that followed, this fabric became more than an innovation; it became a source of comfort. It wrapped Peggy in softness when she needed it most, inspiring the mission that continues to define Softies today.
2008
A family at the kitchen table
Dennis, Peggy, and their son Tim ran the business from home, packing orders in the garage and shipping them from the driveway. As customers experienced the softness for themselves, demand quickly grew, expanding Softies into luxurious robes and loungewear loved around the country.
2011 - 2012
Growing up
In 2011, the family moved into its first warehouse. The following year, Tim stepped into the leadership role, carrying forward the family legacy with the same commitment to comfort, quality, and care.
